    In Memoriam

I feel a heartfelt connection with Robin William's family, as my genius son, Joey endured the same mental disease and tragic ending of his life.

My late son, Joey Barzantny was a child genius at creating phenomenal maze puzzles and became known as "The Wizard of Maze" ( pegged by "Star". ) His brilliant mazes were published locally and nationally, and he was featured on several television programs. In his late teens, he developed manic depression and schizophrenia, and his whole world turned into a torturous maze of life. Joey decided to end his turmoil by leaving this world. He left us a huge legacy of love, amazing talent and cherished maze puzzles! This horrendous illness is indeed a baffling puzzle, and for many years now after he died in 1992, I have been on a crusade to try and help others with this disease. I wrote a biography about Joe, "The Maze Comes To Life", and I have enjoyed speaking about Joey's ordeal in the TV, radio and print media, as well as at live forums. I was thrilled to be part of Rosalynn Carter's mental health symposium in Atlanta and to receive her endorsement for my book. We have set up a marvelous website in Joey's honor...www.mazesbyjoe.com. I am overly pleased that "key players" in Hollywood are genuinely interested in developing my story into a movie! ( Our producer, by the way, was in a movie with Robin Williams, and he absolutely idolized him as a profoundly great person and actor. He inspired him to do what he has now gone on to do!!! ) I would like to share my special song. "For All You Are" that I wrote in tribute to mental illness, which happily won Best Song in the Feb., 2014 international music competition, The Akademia. My heart goes out deeply to the family of Robin Williams!!!!!!! I thank you very much.
