Second Arrest Made in The Wolf Bride Saga
Thai police have arrested another student, Ms. Porntip Munkong, on alleged violation to the country's les mejeste law, Article 112. She was held on official custody in Hatyai on Friday, then transferred and interrogated at the Chanasonkram Police Station.
The army junta has conducted a great number of crackdowns on politicians, members of the public and students who have shown dissent or opinions viewed as harmful to the coup-makers' serial Happiness Campaigns every since imposing harsh martial law.
Ms. Porntip, who is 28-year-old, is accused by the junta of getting involved in a play called "The Wolf Bride" which is deemed by the generals as a violation of Article 112. Earlier, a student, Mr. Patiwat Sarayyam, was arrested under a cloak of secrecy for a similar charge.
Thailand's junta has build a culture of fear of prosecution since they removed democracy and imposed army rule. Freedom of speech is brutally suppressed and regime censors both the new media and press. Rights of Thais and foreigners in Thailand are limited and controlled by the army.
