Ecuador on Earthquake Watch
Sources in Quito report that the President of Ecuador will address the nation this evening at 0930 pm EST about the expectation of a major earthquake, possibly as soon as later tonight. It is rumored that Quito's international airport has or is about to suspend operations in anticipation of this event. The capital city has been shaken by two significant earthquakes over the past week and inhabitants of the city are worried about what is to come.

A press conference just ended with the President of Ecuador and the mayor of Quito seeking to reassure citizens that while they expected significant tremors, they did not expect a major event. The conference is being carried live on Ecuador TV. The head of the Secretaría Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos (SNGR) is being interviewed right now.
