    Praying for peace in Ferguson

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Freelance photographer and videographer Ali Rafiq was taking pictures at the QuikTrip at the center of the protests in Ferguson, Missouri, on Saturday when he noticed a man kneeling and moving his mouth. Rafiq took his photo and asked him what he was doing. The man told him he was praying for Ferguson because “that is all he had left,” Rafiq said. “He mentioned how hurt he was that the community he lived in was slowly imploding.”

Rafiq’s parents have owned a small business in Ferguson for the past 22 years. The business is across the street from the police and fire stations where some of the protests have been happening, he said.

“I am afraid my parents business will be looted or damaged at some point. This is a big concern because it’s the only income they have coming in. It saddens and frustrates [me] watching people destroy a community.”
