    Police Excessive Force Abounds

This is a reaction to an incident shown on CNN recently. It concerns the pushing of Don Lemmon by a police officer while Don was delivering a live report on CNN.. I would like to refer to a posting that I made on ireports two days ago, in which I showed how I was mistreated by a Pittsburgh Police officer as I attempted to cover an important story for the radio station for which I was News Director and a member of the morning show (WYDD-FM).  There were allegations of the police using excessive force against young people attending concerts at the Civic Arena.  The motorcycle officer in question was chasing a young man carrying a can of beer.  The concert fans were barely getting out of the way of the speeding motorcycle police bike which finally bumped the young man with his sidecar, almost running over the young man's head.  I pointed out the near tragedy to his Supervisor, Commander Edwards.  The officer saw me pointing to him and talking with his supervisor and later grabbed me from the crowd, handcuffing me, and making threats, saying you f__king hippie, you're gonna die in jail tonight.  I tried several times to explain what my was for being there, but the officer would not listen.  Finally, the Commander happened to be walking from Gate 1 and heard me scream for help!   The complete PBS program showing an indepth discussion of the near riot conditions that developed, can be seen on YouTube:

Another similarity to Don's experience was that after the young man was knocked down, intentionally, the crowd became agitated and out of hand.
