Robin Williams - an extra-ordinary man

While in college four years ago, my son, Michael, worked in the butcher shop at Antonelli's on California Street in San Francisco. Antonelli's, a small neighborhood market known for its quality meats, had been at that same location since the 1930s. Robin lived not far from there and Antonelli's is where he did much of his grocery shopping. He was a regular customer and it was not uncommon to see him walking the aisles like everyone else. In late-December, Robin came in, as he did every year around this time, to wish each and every employee a "Merry Christmas," and to thank them for their hospitality with a few kind words and an expensive bottle of French champagne. !Michael told me about Robin's visit, his telling not from the perspective of a star struck fan, but rather a young man suitably impressed with his "common man" friendliness and generosity. On-screen and off, Robin Williams truly was an extra-ordinary man! Sent from my iPhone
