    Big Clean for Big Ben

     
    The Great Bell popularly known as Big Ben on the “leaning” Elizabeth Tower ( tower leans slightly to the north-west, by roughly 230 millimetres (9.1 in) over 55 m height, giving an inclination of approximately 1/240) at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London is having a face clean-up and inspection this week (18-22 Aug 2014) by an expert team.
    The 4 clock faces were last cleaned in 2010. The specialist technicians are also conducting photographic survey to record any damage to the timepiece.
    Big Ben is one of the UK's greatest icons.The tower was completed in 31 May 1858. It is 315 feet (96m) high and has 334 limestone stairs to the top.
