Detroit Business Owner Is First to Join Women’s Cabinet

The American Lung Association, in partnership with national presenting sponsor, CVS Caremark, unveiled LUNG FORCE, a new initiative to make lung cancer in women a public health priority, drive policy change and increase research funding. LUNG FORCE, led by the American Lung Association, will unite women to stand together against lung cancer and for lung health. In an effort to raise greater awareness, American Lung Association of Michigan has established a Women’s Cabinet for this initiative.

Angela T. Jones, CEO of Super Woman Productions and Publishing, has become the first member of the Women’s Cabinet for LUNG FORCE in Metro Detroit. Jones, along with Christina Klekner from the American Lung Association, introduced this initiative to the attendees of the recent I Feel Good! Mind, Body and Soul Women’s Conference, held at Wayne State University. Jones has signed up to lead a LUNG FORCE Run/Walk team for Super Woman Productions and Publishing and has signed up other women in Metro Detroit who have pledged their support and will participate in the second annual event being held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan.

“I was surprised to be approached by the American Lung Association, but I am honored to have the opportunity to bring awareness to an issue that impacts the lives of many women. Although I don’t personally suffer from respiratory illnesses, I have friends, relatives and colleagues who are directly affected. I have witnessed the effects of COPD, lung cancer, asthma and other illnesses. I understand how important LUNG FORCE is to our community and the health of women everywhere”, Jones said.

Jones’ involvement with LUNG FORCE comes shortly after her Community Partnership with Karmanos Cancer Institute was announced. A charitable book signing event is being held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Gayle’s Chocolates in Royal Oak, Michigan benefitting Karmanos Cancer Institute and honoring Jones’ friend and stylist Mark England, who lost his battle with cancer in January of 2014. Additional information about both initiatives is available on the Super Woman Productions and Publishing website.
