Big Thunder & Lights with RAIN in SoCal

What a fun morning! California doesn't get much rain and we get even less Thunder & Lightning. This morning a storm rolled through & in the high desert near Joshua Tree National Park we had hard rain & an unusual amount of thunder & lightning. It only lasted a couple of hours. We are on the mountain so I don't know if the rain did any damage below. The desert is of course, known for flash flooding as seen in Arizona yesterday.
Our Tortoise son Arnold goes out each morning (from his bedroom closet) to his fenced yard. This morning he seemed to enjoy a bit of rain but soon decided it was a bit much & went inside his 'hut'. I then decided it was too much rain & brought him inside to finish breakfast. I took a couple of pics of him drying out on a towel & having a bite to eat. He then went back to bed & hasn't been out again. I think maybe the Thunder brought back memories of Years Gone By when we had much more rain.
The sky is still very dark & looks like it may give us another gift of much needed RAIN.
Doing a rain dance from the High Desert of SoCal.
