This iReport is part of an assignment:
Police brutality protests
Justice for Ezell Ford and Mike Brown
Los Angeles residents showed solidarity with Ferguson in a rally for Ezell Ford at the LAPD Headquarters on August 17, 2014 in Downtown LA. I asked participants "Did you know Ezell Ford or anyone who did? How do you feel police brutality and the violence in LA compares to other areas of the country?" Here are their answers.
On Monday night [August 11, 2014] while, 1,800 miles away, Ferguson was rioting over the shooting of Michael Brown, Ezell Ford was walking down a street in Los Angeles. [One police officer] fired his handgun and the officer on the ground fired his backup weapon at Ford. Police said Ford was detained, then transported to a hospital where he later died.
