The Popular Types Of Hot Water Systems Mostly Used By Families
Today, no one can seem to take a bath when the water in the bathroom is not hot enough. You can hardly manually wash some dirty glasses, dishes and other utensils when the tap in the kitchen is not releasing hot water. Having hot water today is really now more a necessity than a luxury in almost all residential homes.
Commonly Installed And Used Hot Water Systems In Residential Properties
There are different types of hot water systems that families rely on to get and have hot water running around their home. Below are most popular and commonly used ones:
Conventional storage water heater. This type of storage water heater offers a ready reservoir or supply of hot water. This storage works by releasing hot water from the top of the tank whenever the hot water tap is turned on. And for the released hot water to be replaced, cold water enters the bottom of the tank, guaranteeing that the tank is always full. This water heating system runs on different kinds of fuel sources which electricity, natural gas, propane, and fuel oil.
Tankless or demand-type water heater. A tankless water heater provides or pumps out hot water only when it is needed. They only start working when they are turned on and as such, this type of heater does not produce the standby energy losses associated with storage water heaters. Cold water travels through a pipe into the unit when the hot tap is turned on. A gas burner or an electric element heats the water. A tankless water heater delivers a constant supply of hot water and is a much more cost-effective system than the conventional storage water heater.
Solar water heater. This type of heater relies on the sun’s heat for the water in to be used at home to get hot. This heater can be used in any climate and of course, it runs on a free power source: sunshine.
Heat pump water heater. This water heating system, which runs on electricity, transfers heat from one place to another instead of generating heat directly when hot water is needed and used. This heat pump is described as a “refrigerator in reverse” to circulate the heat in the home’s water system.
These kinds of water heating systems always require the services of experts whenever they have to be installed, maintained or repaired. Hot water installation, Gold Coast residents know, is usually not a DIY project. As such, if you are looking to have a new water heating system installed in your home, get in touch with a reliable plumbing contractor.
