    Solar powered lighthouse

North Gigantes lighthouse is one of the 27 lighthouses built by the Spaniards in 1895. The lighthouse was totally damage by Typhoon Frank in 2008 and after restorations, the once brick-stone lighthouse was converted into a steel lighthouse and it is powered by solar energy. The solar panel are found at the top of the lighthouse. Most old lighthouses in the Philippines are powered by solar energy.
