Black Lives Matter protests (2014)
Igniting the Spiritual Intention of Ferguson, MO
Yesterday evening, I experienced Ferguson by night, an eerie experience to be sure. The police blocked off direct access. I needed to park my car about a half a mile away. On the way to "Ground Zero", one family was offering protesters free bbq and soft drinks. As evening approached the St. Louis police and the National Guard began to appear. I saw many of the heavy military riot vehicles I had seen on TV. Within the two block radius, we needed to keep moving and remain off the street. A group of angry protesters followed by several cameras rushed towards me. The only way I could avoid them was to go into the street.
I was warned by the police to get back. I started to tell my story to a cnn reporter.... and was told to keep moving.
In my lifetime, I had been in Kuwait, Kosovo, and Sarajevo, but nothing there could possibly compare. The following morning, I went back and spoke with some media. I showed them my sign and then forgot to take it with me. About an hour later, I came back. To my surprise, a group of youth was displaying the sign proudly... This is the power of the Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr
