    Just say "Police Discretion"

    Police Discretion? What exactly does this mean? The street definition means you can shoot and kill just about anyone you please because after all you are given an easy out....I feared for my life.
    Time to change this nonsense and put real procedures and policies in place that hold every officer accountable for their decisions....Especially in cases that result in the death of another.
    Law Dictionary: Police Discretion Definition;
    Police discretion is a vague term that has an appropriately vague definition. It is defined as the decision-making power afforded to police officers that allows them to decide if they want to pursue police procedure or simply let someone off with a warning. How it looks in practice is different from situation to situation.
    I Do Not support the concept of police discretion per se.
    I do completely support the police in logical and obvious situations where they need to act.
    Mostly I see the term "Police Discretion" as a cop out (pun intended) to validate actions that wouldn't fly otherwise.
    Doing away with this concept would go a long way toward solving the issue between overzealous police officers and the communities they serve.
