Mayor of Sukhothai, Thailand - 1
I was fortunate to be asked by the mayor of Sukhothai, Thailand to photograph him and his immediate staff on Chulalongkorn Day, 2012. The mayor and his staff only dress in these "official" uniforms on very special occasions, such as Chulalongkorn Day.
Chulalongkorn Day in 2012 fell on Oct. 23, is a national holiday, and celebrates the revered King Chulalongkorn, the 5th monarch of Thailand during the current Rama dynasty.
Sukhothai, Thailand is of note as the pictured "old city" was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. Sukhothai's "old city" was founded in the year 1238, was Thailand's capital for roughly 140 years and contains 193 excavated and partly excavated temples such as the temple on which the mayor and his staff are standing on.
It was an honor to be selected to take this unique photograph.
