This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Kids breaking gender norms

How is my child redefining gender rules?

    The question:
"How are your children redefining the rules?"

    My answer:
    She isn't.

It isn't my daughter who's deciding whether an activity is gender appropriate. I doubt she would even know what is considered gender appropriate in the eyes of our society.

What she does know is she loves to fish. It's her favorite past-time.
And she loves to collect insects.
If you were to ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, she'll tell you an Entomologist . She wants to study bugs. Go figure.
But, she is still all girl.

So it isn't Jade who's redefining the rules, she wouldn't know what the "rules" are.
    It's me...her parent.
    I decide.

And that is where the change has occurred. In the eyes of this generations parenting.
We, in general, don't put blinders and gender specific roles on our children.
We allow them to explore who they are...we don't tell them who they are.

Which in my opinion is good.
