Chaos & Disorder at iPhone 6 Release Day Atlanta

It was a chaotic scene outside Lenox Mall Atlanta - home of the largest Atlanta area Apple store. Fans of iPhone waited, some over 24 hours sleeping out to buy the new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus released the morning of 09/19/14. The crowd exploded when someone who had waited in line hours thought security was allowing folks inside the mall to stand in front of the actual Apple store. The crowd rushed towards the mall only to be told by security to move back to the street and off the Lenox Mall property. Security had to call multiple police to restore order and peace to a line that became jumbled and out of order in which folks arrived to camp out.

I was able to land an 128g iPhone 6 (a phone already on back order) from the AT&T store across the street from the Lenox Mall scene where people too were camped out for the new smart phone. Many people who waited in line for hours upon hours were disappointed as they were not able to purchase the phone they desired.

By 8:20am - after both stores opened at 8am, particular sizes of each model of iPhone 6 were being reported sold out.

Those in line for Lenox Mall entry were close to fighting, arguing and high emotions thrown at mall security and at the police officers who were called to restore order. The line at the AT&T across the street remained peaceful and almost jovial as folks on both sides of the streets anxiously awaited their new phones.
