    Those we lost in 2014

    Rest in peace Mrs. Johnston.

This picture has been circulating through-out many of my friends today on Facebook.

None of us really knew her all that well, or at least her day to day life, but we knew her.
Or perhaps I should say...we knew her husband.

He was our High School band director, Mr. Johnston.

Of course we'd see Mrs. Johnston at concerts and different activities through out the year, so yes we knew her.

The part that made me pause, most of us haven't seen either Mr. or Mrs. Johnston is two decades, yet here we were today sharing this.
All these students, from many different years, remembering and sharing condolences for a woman we hadn't seen in years.

For that moment, it was like losing a mother.

Losing a mother figure of your childhood, even though it's not your mom.

But that is what a teacher is...and sometimes their spouses too.

They are teacher, friend, disciplinarian, a shoulder to cry on, coach and parent.

    R.I.P Mrs. Johnston
    We were your kids too...
