Sanctuary Village destroyed by bulldozers by the City of Rochester
Sanctuary Village, also known as Tent City, is an area in Rochester NY where 45 homeless residents have taken up living there. since Oct, with the support of the House of Mercy and many Rochester residents.
On Dec 19th, after luring 41 residents from their tents by promise of a hotel room and hot showers and meals, the City of Rochester and Mayor Lovely Warren went ahead and bulldozed the area, destorying the only personal property the homeless owned, along with their shelters.
It has been speculated that due to an upcoming 5K, where runners would be going past Sanctuary Village, the Mayor decided to go against the newly set Dec 28th re-location deadline for the residents, and bulldozed the area.
It was an inhumane act and was full of prejudice.
The homeless have human rights the same as any of us.

**In a new development a Go Fund Me Account has been set up as well under the title "Sanctuary Village" so that The House of Mercy will be able to buy their own property for the homeless instead of waiting for the City, which is appearing to be fruitless.**
