Are you a Millionaire in the Making?

    More from movinup

    Millionaires are OVER-Rated!!!!!!

I think we all need to re-evaluate our ambitions in life. Becoming a millionaire is so important to most people that they lose sight on what really is important.

People think that by being a millionaire you have to drive the nicest car and live in the biggest house. I think this assumption is where most people go terribly wrong.

I can honestly say that I really don't care about being a millionaire. My wife and I make just under $80K a year combined. We have both of our cars paid off and we own two homes. We are able to put $1500 away every month into savings and we don't live off of credit cards. We budget for food and gas every two weeks and seperate our food and gas money into little ziplock bags. We don't spend out side of what we make. By doing this we are able to save so much money and we either meet or exceed our projected savings every year.

The key to all of this is living below your means. Its often said, but rarely followed. When we bought our first house we didn't want to go over a certain amount even though we were qualified for much more. We didn't care about what other people thought. We cared more about how much money we can put in the bank at the end of the month after the expenses were paid. And now that 1st house generates income for us every month on top of paying for itself. We are not Millionaires, It's more fun being able to do what we do without the title, Becuase it's not expected.

So many people over extend themselves; which forces them to live off of credit and if your playing that game, it is not designed for you to win. So in order to beat the game we created our own rules that is designed for us to win.

Whether or not I am a millionaire in the future is not important. What is important is knowing that I have both mortgages paid off so I don't owe anybody anything, a considerable amount of personal savings, a healthy retirement fund and leave an inheritance for my kids.

Who needs to be a millionaire when you can be just as happy living within your means.
