This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Those we lost in 2014

    My Beautiful Son

Selfless, witty, and wonderfully bright, Thomas Joseph Coady was a light to the world. A biology senior at the University of Florida, Thomas studied pre-medicine and hoped to attend medical school to help others in need. He worked with immigrant families in health disparities, was a group leader in his microbiology lab, and loved playing chess and microbrewing. He lit up a room when he walked through the door. Together, we co-authored papers and created outreach materials for non-English speaking families. He touched the lives of many people in his short 22 years on earth.

Thomas was my son, my inspiration, my teacher. He taught me about selflessness (he never asked for anything), playing by the rules ("lying is way overrated"), and to focus on doing what is right even if everyone disagrees. Words cannot capture his spirit, pictures cannot show his boundless heart.

On December 6, 2014 the world lost a light. I pray that God keeps my son safe and close, and blankets us with grace and comfort. I will love you forever, Thomas!
