Monumental Barack Obama
Have you ever wondered how art and politics coincide? A monumental 13ft. tall Barack Obama graces the streets of Cleveland, Ohio. Dressed in a starched white shirt, tie, and black pants the recognizable puppet gently moves through the busy intersection attracting passersby. Honking horns and ecstatic smiles brought delighful energy to the streets of Cleveland. Artist, Robin Van Leer said "I feel like I know him afer sculpting the head of the 13ft. tall Obama puppet." "I was still working at 3:00 am tying the Windsor knot that frames his face." As artists gather to encourage early voting, the statuesque Obama puppet stands tall and appears to be getting the message out. Does art motivate a community to vote? This street performance suggests that it will.
