    Remembering Leonard Nimoy

    Spock: A Hero For All

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Dustin Hausner says growing up he saw Spock, played by Leonard Nimoy, as on outsider, and in many ways he found the iconic figure to be relatable. “Even when he was teased for his mind, appearance and background, he would always be proud of who he was,” Hausner remembers. “His character and philosophy helped give me strength.”
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Growing up Spock was always a outsider, while logical had  difficulty interacting and really being part of the team in many ways. I  am dyslexic and that was a challenge I shared in many ways with Spock.  Yet even when he was teased for his mind, appearance and background, he  would always be proud of who he was and show in his own way love and  compassion towards all living things. He didn't hate, he was accepting  and strived to always learn more and try not to judge others. He was a  role model for anyone who has ever felt like a outsider or different.  His character and philosophy helped give me strength in my own self to  develop into the person I wanted to become.

When I heard he died I very upset. I had joked for years only two celebrity's when they died I would be really upset Mel Brooks and  Leonard Nimoy. I worked the whole day and when I finally got home just  started crying. When I went out with friends later that night I  actually wore the Star Trek shirt in the picture with a black ribbon on  the side of my left arm. I will probably do a Leonard Nimoy-Spock  marathon this weekend.

I did the  photo because to me his character is a symbol for logic and humanity. I  wore it because I believe in what he stood for also Leonard Nimoy  himself lived that philosophy, so when I do the Vulcan Salute or wear  the shirt then I honor the character and the person.

Leonard Nimoy-Spock was a one of a kind person. Spock had a philosophy  which outsiders could accept and grow up with in order to become great  people. As a character all people could related to his challenges  whether it was in his social interactions, way of thinking, or feeling  of isolation. Spock will always be a World Icon. Leonard Nimoy in his  way lived live with love, compassion, logic and humanity. He was a  beautiful person who inspired people to do the same. His death is a  great loss and yet his legacy is truly astounding.

Thank You Spock for being a Hero that anyone could look up too. This is a sad day for all Geeks, Nerds, Dorks, Weirdos, and just people who needed a Spock in their lives. We can all honor the memory of Leonard Nimoy-Spock by always striving for logic, caring for all life forms, and going out to make the world a better place.

    Live Long And Prosper

    Sincerely,
    Dustin Hausner
