    Aurora - Stars Aligned

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     While on a trip to Iceland's Vatnajökull National Park, iReporter MrDemil captured these stunning images of the Northern Lights over the Jökulsárlón lagoon, a large glacial lake. "This is the second time I have viewed the Northern lights, and still remains one of the most beautiful and amazing natural wonders that I have ever seen in all my travels," he says. He made small adjustments to levels in Photoshop.

I took a weekend trip to Iceland to try and capture the Aurora over Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. March is typcially a good month for sightings but many things have to line up. No clouds (Typically a problem in Iceland this time of year), good solar activity, good background, no wind, and a little luck. On Sunday Night everything came together with a solar KP index of 5. After waiting all night in freezing weather, the stars aligned and the sky exploded with every type of Aurora paterns, arches, curtains, color, stars/aurora relfections in calm water. Its was amazing. I wanted to share a couple photos of the experience.
