    Celestial Color Explosion over Telemark

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Gaustatroll says despite popular belief his area of Atra, Norway, doesn’t see the northern lights that often. He captured these shots from his home on April 17. “It is rather rare for us living here in a small valley in South Norway to see such an immense Aurora Borealis as this one,” he said. “Last time we had such a great experience was back in 2003.”
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Thursday night and early Friday morning, many inhabitants of Telemark / Norway experienced the most spectacular aurora show of their lives. It began a little dull, with only occasional green and purple rays but around an hour after midnight the sky suddenly exploded in a giant color show. The whole show lasted from around 11 p.m. until approx. 3 a.m. This was an unforgettable experience for people here in Atraa - on the 60th parallel - ie pretty far south of Norway.
