Baloch groom married three days ago killed by Pakistan army

A young Baloch groom who was married just three days ago was killed by the army in Balochistan Tuesday to provide security to multi-billion Chinese investments. The victim was identified as Shahnawaz Baloch a leader of the Baloch Students Organization Azad.

Karima Baloch, first female acting chairperson of the Baloch Students Organization Azad, tweeted, “Shahnawaz s/o Faiz Mohd was a senior active member of BSO-Azad. He got married 3 days ago and Army killed him today.”

Shahnawaz Baloch was among four people abducted from Mashkay, hometown of Baloch Robinhood and legendary guerrilla leader Dr Allah Nazar, chief of the Baloch Liberation Front.

“Human Rights groups must take notice of last night's Mashkay abductions where Army abducted seven people and killed four of them today,” Kareema Baloch said.

She said, “Pakistan continues Baloch genocide to take full control of Balochistan resources and sell it to China. Dr Malik government equally involved.” She said Dr Malik government's public announcement of Makuran operation is bringing more dead bodies to Baloch homes. “This is nothing less than a genocide,” she charged.

Dr Malik, whose real name is Abdul Malik and who is member of the Rais clan in Kech, was handpicked by the ISI and Military Intelligence to do their dirty job in Balochistan two years ago even though he belongs to a minority party in the ruling coalition. Highly unpopular among Baloch, even Rais clan members accuse him of selling out to the army for comforts and perks.

Dr Karima Baloch herself belongs to a family of Baloch martyrs as her uncle the diminutive but most respected Dr Khalid Shaheed was killed by the security forces eight years ago. Her family was very close to Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, an icon of the independence movement, for four decades until his death last June.

Meanwhile, nothing is known about Dr Amir Bakhsh, a grade 19 doctor working for the Balochistan government, who was abducted a week ago while going to work April 15. His brother Arif Baloch said the family has been running from pillar to post and met with the chief Minister. Dr Bakhsh was working as a provincial coordinator with the provincial Department of Health and was vice president of Family Planning Association of Pakistan, Balochistan chapter. He was also a well-known social figure from Mekran.

Ruling party member and former senator Mir Aslam Buledi accused the government of Abdul Malik for giving the consent for Dr Bakhsh’s enforced disappearance.
