In The Closing Months of the Year 2008. Racism and Hatred Still Exists in this Country!

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness...

These are profound words, words that were agreed to by 56 people on July 4, 1776. Words that defined the principal by which this great nation was founded. Unfortunately 232 years later many people in this country have forgotten this basic principal. When I see the comments from some of the people in this video, it is deeply troubling. One man on the video claims that “The Bible Says there is one way to heaven, Jesus Christ...” another woman states “They are going to take our freedom of Religion away... Because he (Barack Obama) is a Muslim...” Just as Colin Powell stated, “Barack Obama is a Christian and not a Muslim but why should that matter?” It does not. Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and Islam are the Spiritual part of our souls and what we as humans believe based on how we were raised and what our families, culture, and history have shaped our opinions and beliefs. I’m a white Irish/Finlander who was raised Roman Catholic, but does that make me right and 80+ percent of the rest of the world who have other religious beliefs wrong? No! Do I understand the other religious cultures of the different races on this planet? No as I’ve never studied them. But, that does not mean I do not respect other people’s beliefs and culture. Buddhism, Judaism and Islam are as ancient as Christianity and if I’m not mistaken, it could very well be that they have been in existence longer than Christianity. The People in this country who “Choose” to be ignorant believe that if you are a “Muslim” and practice and believe in the ancient teachings of Islam that you are “automatically” a terrorist. So with that logic Timothy McVey, Jim Jones, Ted Kaczynski, Elizabeth Clare Prophet and David Koresh must have all been Muslims, correct? I have many friends from across this great nation who are of all races, cultures, and religions and they are all very great people and they would do anything to support this country. Just as Colin Powell stated the young man who went to Iraq to fight for this country and who gave his life for this country, was of the Islamic faith.  But according to many extreme, right-winged Christians, this man was a terrorist. To be honest I’m repulsed by these thoughts and if these extreme fervent “Christians” feel they are Americans and they represent what America is. If this is the case, then I am NOT an American as I refuse to be part of this closed, ignorant, bigoted, racist group of people who consider themselves to be American. These people go against the very basic principles of what this country founded on.

Finally, an Open Comment to Mr. Sean Hannity and Fox Broadcasting.

I believe in the freedoms we all have been given in this country, including the Freedom of Speech. But Mr. Hannity, there is a distinct difference between the freedom of speech and being part of a major network and spewing outright lies to further your career. This video serves proof that YOU, Mr. Hannity, are fueling the fire of hatred and racial divide in this country for personal gain. Isn’t it interesting that Don Imus made a racial slur and HE was immediately fired. But, here we have you, Mr. Hannity, who is spreading racism and religious bigotry and yet you continue to collect a paycheck from FOX Broadcasting. To My mind, the best way to affect a Media Giant, is to affect their income which is driven by advertising dollars. So if the “Smart, Non Racist” people in this country start boycotting the companies who provide advertising income to Fox News, then maybe Fox News will be forced to deal with your foul mouth and remove you from the airwaves!

This video is just one example of the growing racism and religious bigotry in this country.
