Fort Collins - CSU Campus Oval, Colorado

This iReport is part of an assignment:
Campaign 2008 |
Obama Rally at Colorado State University Sunday Oct 26, 2008
The line began forming at 4:30 am for the afternoon speech scheduled for 3:30 pm. By 10 am the line was 6 abreast and snaked through the entire Colorado State Campus for a distance of 2 miles. The line crisscrossed the campus twice and spanned it's entire length. The speech was given in the "Oval" a traditional tree lined campus mall on the far east edge of campus. The end of the line to get in was on Shields boulevard on the far West end of the campus. These photos show the front of the line where I stood from 8:00 am until entry to the Oval at 1:30 pm. One photo shows the Oval as it begins to fill and another shows the crowd by the time Senator Obama was speaking. Governor Ritter of Colorado is also pictured at the podium. I was told, purely word of mouth, that the "Oval" holds about 50,000 people and the line outside of those who didn't get in before the speech ended was still quite long. I have no idea how many total showed up.
