    Lake Titicaca

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Sobhana Venkatesan captured these photos of the Uros people on Lake Titcaca, which is situated on the border of Peru and Bolivia.

"The people here do not want to lose touch with their life on the water, which gives them solace," she said. "The photos portray different aspects of daily routine like fishing, cooking, bringing up children, entertaining tourists and selling their handicrafts, which provides them with an added source of income."

This was the CNN travel photo of the day for August 27, 2015.

Uros the ancient people of the Lake Titicaca, are gradually adapting to the modern times. The new generations are enamoured by the world of technology and science that could offer them education and better living conditions. Their traditions and skills, the ingenious way they have used reeds as a building material for their islands, houses and boats help us understand an ancient culture.
