Richmond's progressiveness comes to Santa Rosa, CA

Housing affordability has become a crisis nation wide, some places seem to be worse than others as is the case of Sonoma County in California; the city of Santa Rosa and other neighboring cities have been reluctant to tackle the issue.

Housing advocate groups have stepped up to pressure city councils to take measures such as rent control. In Santa Rosa, Council Member Julie Combs has brought the issue to the council where she has met resistance by some council members such as the only latino council member Ernesto Olivares and  Mayor John Sawyer.

Richmond Progressive politicians have become the "Poster Child" as they recently passed a rent control ordinance.

Richmond Council Member Eduardo Martinez came to Santa Rosa's community radio KBBF to be interviewed by Jorge Alfaro and Francisco Lozano.

Grassroots movements in Santa Rosa in the midst of the housing crisis, see Richmond grassroots politicians as the alternative and hope of something to be achieved in this city.

A march is planned for Wednesday July 29 to let the city politicians know that the people are fed up with rents being increased in some cases by over 50%.
