Living in a world of garbage

I produced this report photographing the work of people in our society manage one of the biggest problems exist: the garbage. The photographs were taken in a large central incineration of garbage and a site for the disposal of organic waste. People who work in these centers play a very heavy work; they are constantly in contact with millions of tons of garbage of any kind. The air is perpetually impregnated nauseating odors 24 hours a 24 for 365 days a year; where garbage is radioactive - for example hospital waste - whether mistakenly or deliberately placed in the trash, special detectors trigger specific alarms, but these toxic and hazardous waste materials will then be managed by them. These people, despite the hard work that few would want to do, are real professionals. The real challenge, they say, is to try to minimize the use of waste materials, such as packaging, plastics, toxic substances can not be recycled. But it will be possible to achieve this?
