    Atlas V lifts off from Florida Space Coast

     

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Randy Lathrop drove just a half a mile from his home to watch the Atlas V rocket launch early Wednesday morning. “This one was really cool with the way the plume went. You never know what’s going to happen,” said the longtime space enthusiast. “This morning during the countdown, the light was changing and the sun was coming up. I was constantly checking my aperture.”

    KENNEDY SPACE CENTER - A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket blasted into space this morning leaving a plum in the sky which could be seen all over Florida east coast. The rocket is carrying a Navy communications satellite that will help American troops worldwide have smart phone communications anywhere, any time.
