    Griffith Observatory, California

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     VeronicaLon, from the Philippines, visited the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles in July for her birthday.
    - AmandaJTX, CNN iReport producer

Griffith Observatory is in Southern California and a toran to the solar system. Live shows in the planetarium, telescopes and exhibits help visitors learn more about the galaxy. It presents a good view of the city and offers paved hiking trails which is a must try for those who want to get in shape.

The first photo is the top frontal view of the observatory with the Astronomers Monument and Sundial standing in front of it. The monument spotlights Hipparchus, Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, Johannes Kepler, Isaac Newton, and John Herschel who were among the most influential astronomers in history. This view greets the hikers/tourists coming from the East and West Observatory Road.
The second photo is a view of Los Angeles from the West Terraces of the observatory.
The third photo is an afternoon view of the city from the roof deck where the Zeiss telescope dome is found on the east side and the solar telescope is found on the west.
The fourth photo is a view of the city from the same spot of the roof deck but in the evening.
The fifth photo is a view of the Griffith observatory a mile away along the West Observatory trail.
The sixth photo is a view of the Hollywood sign from the Observatory parking lot.
The seventh photo is myself standing on the West Observation Terrace.
