    Brad Anderson - Marmaduke's creator

Early this morning I had a message from Mr.Brad Anderson's son, Mr.Paul Anderson letting me know that my favorite and America's lovable comic strip cartoon character Marmaduke's creator Mr.Brad Anderson had sadly, but peacefully passed away.

Marmaduke has always remained my favorite canine character since my childhood days, and the only way that I could read about him in Sri Lanka was through the English Daily News papers that put up a daily dose of giggles and laughter about his crazy antics, each morning, I remember I would run helter skelter to grab the newspapers and the first thing that I would search was for Marmaduke's comic strip page, on days that it was not printed I would be very disappointed.

Many years later when technology, computers and gadgets  came to Sri Lanka, the first thing that I browsed on the web site was for' Brad Anderson,' Marmaduke's creator.... and the first thing that I read was about him and his creations of Marmaduke which creation began in 1954 and  was based on the author's very own family and the antics of their great Dane doggy.  I so loved reading about him and loved Mr.Brad Anderson's drawings, and humor, Marmaduke was a great comic to settle down somewhere in a cosy room or bed and giggle away at that naughty mischevous hound!.

After searching and searching on the web site, I managed to get Mr.Brad Anderson's address in faraway America, this  was about in the year 2004 and wrote to Mr.Anderson saying how much I loved reading about Marmaduke, a year later Mr.Brad Anderson who had received my letter but got hidden among all the Marmaduke drawings found my letter and immediately wrote to me, saying how much he was sorry that he was late in replying me, and very kindly enclosed a copy of one of Marmaduke's books for which I was so delighted and over the moon to receive., and which I will treasure all my life as it came from the great creator himself Mr.Brad Anderson.  I was so touched and grateful to him.

Fast forward and one day I happen to meet Mr.Brad Anderson's son Paul Anderson via FB and to this day I am ever so grateful to get to know both Mr.Brad and Mr.Paul Anderson.

In faraway Sri Lanka I Marmaduke has and still is bringing so much laughter , giggles and happiness to me, and to everyone else who reads about him, and I know the many countless people like me will miss Mr. Brad Anderson - and want to thank Mr.Brad Anderson for the many years of delight given us through his canine character's doggy tricks and which so remind us of our own doggies at home and their ways of behaviour which at times resembled Marmaduke.

I am hoping and praying that his son Mr. Paul Anderson will continue Brad Anderson's legacy of giving us more and more fun and delightful laughter via  Marmaduke .

With Blessings of the Holy Triple Gem to the Anderson Family.

Good bye Mr. Brad Anderson we loved you so very much., now and forever.

    May you Rest in Peace.
