Virtual protests break out in Second Life
The residents of Second Life were rocked last night with a single blogpost on the Linden Lab Website. Linden Lab who runs the virtual world called Second Life issued a blog statement informting the residents of a massive 66% increase in fee's for thier virtual openspace sims. A raise from $75 USD per month to whopping $125 per month.
This blog almost immediately gave rise to protests from thousands of people in Second Life. One Second Life resident is quoted with saying "This is going to raise my monthly bill to Linden Lab up another $10,000, I already pay over $30,000 a month to be a part of this community...Theres no way I can continue".
Thousands of Second Life Residents have poured millions of dollars into these openspace sims as just 6 months ago Linden Lab had lowered the prices of these sims to intice more residents to become land holders. Now with the rate increase Linden Lab stands to make millions yearly and those that cannot afford the increases will lose thier investments
