THE CHRIST AND OLD COVENANT OF PROMISE PART 1

THE BIG PICTURE OF THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE PART ONE: Next on the agenda is the subject titled THE CHRIST AND OLD COVENANT OF PROMISE.
“If you love me, you will obey my commandments. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever. He is the Spirit who reveals the truth about God (as you are about to find in the Project Works, Findings and Recommendations!) The world cannot receive him, because it cannot see him or know him. However, you know him, because he remains with you and is in you. When I go, you will not be let all alone; I will come back to you. In a little while, the world will see me no more, but you will see me; and because I live, you also will live. When that day comes (which came on the Day of Pentecost) you will know that I am in my Father and that you are in me, just as I am in you. Whoever accepts my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. My Father will love whoever loves me; I too will love and reveal myself to him.” John 14: 15-21.
Arising from the import of the quoted excerpts the digital graphic painting we are making out of the big picture of the tenet of the New Covenant of Grace is as follows,
    i. The Genealogy of Jesus the Christ: That the Lord Jesus Christ is 100% human. Writing on the ancestry of the Lord Jesus Christ as a human being, the Good News Bible posits, “This is the list of the ancestors of Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, who was a descendant of Abraham. From Abraham to King David, the following ancestors are listed: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah and his brothers. ... From David to the time when the people of Israel were taken into exile in Babylon, the following ancestors are listed: David, Solomon (his mother was the woman who had been Uriah’s wife). ... So then, there were fourteen genealogies from Abraham to David, and fourteen from David to the exile in Babylon, and fourteen from them to the birth of the Messiah.” Matthew 1: 1-17.
ii. The Lord Jesus the Messiah is Born: As the Lord Jesus Christ is 100% so also he is 100% God. Talking about his divinity and in what our working data christens, The Birth of Jesus Is Announced, we have, “In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee named Nazareth. He had a message for a girl promised in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was a descendant of King David. The girl’s name was Mary. The angel came to her and said, ‘Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you!’ Mary was deeply troubled by the angel’s message, and she wondered what his words meant. The angel said to her, ‘don’t be afraid, Mary, God has been gracious to you. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God. The Lord God will make him a king, as his ancestor David was, and he will be the king of the descendants of Jacob for ever; his kingdom will never end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘I am a virgin. How, then, can this be?’ The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come on you, and God’s power will rest upon you. For this reason the holy child will be called the Son of God. Remember your relative Elizabeth. It is said that she cannot have children, but she herself is now six months pregnant, even though she is very old. For there is nothing that God cannot do.’ ‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ said Mary ‘May it happen to me as you have said.’ And the angel left her. ... At that time the Emperor Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Roman Empire. When this first census took place, Quirinius was the governor of Syria. Everyone, then, went to register himself, each to his own town. Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judaea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David. He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. She was pregnant, and whole they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her baby. She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in a manger – there was no room for them to stay in the inn.” Luke 1: 26-38; 2: 1-7.
iii. The Lord Jesus Christ Exhibits His Divinity in the Temple: Early sign exhibited by Jesus Christ that he is indeed the Son of God abound. The Good News Bible records it as follows, “Every year the parents of Jesus went to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival. When Jesus was twelve years old, they went to the festival as usual. When the festival was over, they started back home, but the boy Jesus stayed in Jerusalem. His parents did not know this; they thought that he was with the group, so they travelled a whole day and then started looking for him among their relatives and friends. They did not find him, so they went back to Jerusalem looking for him. On the third day they found him in the Temple, sitting with the Jewish teachers, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard him were amazed at his intelligent answers. His parents were astonished when they saw him, and his mother said to him, ‘My son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been terribly worried trying to find you.’ He answered them, ‘Why did you have to look for me? Didn’t you know that I had to be in my Father’s house? But they did not understand his answer. So Jesus went with them to Nazareth, where he was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart. Jesus grew both in body and in wisdom, gaining favor with God and men.” Luke 2: 41-52.
iv. The Baptism of Jesus Christ: The Almighty God testifies and confirms that the Lord Jesus is indeed his Son the Messiah. We found that when we read, “... At that time the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert. So John went throughout the whole territory of the River Jordan, preaching, ‘Turn away from your sins and be baptized, and God will forgive your sins.’ As it is written in the book of the prophet Isaiah, ‘someone is shouting in the desert: get the road ready for the Lord; make a straight path for him to travel! Every valley must be filled up, every hill and mountain leveled off. The winding roads must be made straight, and the rough paths made smooth. All mankind will see God’s salvation!’ Crowds of people came out to John to be baptized by him. ‘You snakes!’ he said to them, ‘who told you that you could escape from the punishment God is about to send? Do those things that will show that you have turned from your sins. And don’t start saying among yourselves that Abraham is your ancestor. I tell you that God can take these stones and make descendants for Abraham! ... After all the people had been baptized, Jesus also was baptized.”... While he was praying, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit came down upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, ‘you are my own dear Son, I am pleased with you.’... Then a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow, and a voice came from the crowd, ‘This is my own dear Son – listen to him!” Luke3: 1 – 22; Mark 9: 7. In the subtitle: The Transfiguration, the Good News Bible states, “Six days later Jesus took with him Peter and the brothers James and John (the sons of Zebedee) and led them up a high mountain where they were alone. As they looked on, a change came over Jesus: his face was shining like the sun, and his clothes were dazzling white. Then the three disciples saw Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. Therefore, Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, ‘Lord, how good it is that we are here! If, you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ While he was talking, a shining cloud came over them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my own dear Son (Messiah), with whom I am pleased – listen to him.’” (Emphasis ours) Matthew 17: 1-5.
