    Pope Francis Visits DC

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     lakunk got a glimpse of the Pope Wednesday in Washington: 'It was a beautiful experience. The crowd was so polite and communal -- sharing, talking, and waiting patiently. We waited a long time for just those few minutes, but it was worth it.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

I am not Catholic. This week, however, when given the opportunity to see the pope in person, I didn't hesitant to join my fiance to wait along the parade route -- including waking up early, joining the crowds, and still working an 8-hour day after. Why? Because the pope was Pope Francis.

After meeting with President Obama on Wednesday, Pope Francis took the "popemobile" for a quick parade along the Ellipse. The crowd was just as nice as I expected -- sharing in one another's anticipation and common experience.

As the pope drew near, iPhones shot into the air. Typically accompanied by a loud roar, these smartphones, however, captured a quiet respect and blessed moment in which each member of the crowd felt closer to God.
