Super Moon and piano concert: Griffith Observatory

The eclipsing super moon rose over a partly cloudy sky in Los Angels. Hundreds turned out for the triple show-- super moon, eclipse and piano concert at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angles.

Although the moon was barely seen, the crowds enjoyed their picnics on the lawn and piano concerto by 14- year old virtuoso, Japanese-American Ray Ushikubo of the Colburn School.

The mini concert started as soon as the moon started to rise and the crowds were serenaded with music from Beethoven presented in part by The Los Angeles Philharmonic as part of its Immortal Beethoven program .
