    Wrath of Typhoon Lando

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Jonathan Joseph Basan and his family were part of the aid effort to help in the aftermath of Typhoon Koppu, which hit the Philippines this past weekend. The storm left hundreds of families homeless in San Manuel Norte, Agoo, La Union, Philippines, where these photos were taken this week.

Katherine Ofiaza, Basan’s cousin, grew up in the village and now lives in Singapore. “During calamities, our ‘barangay’, or village, is rarely reached by government services such as relief operations,” she said. “Hence, our family has come up with this idea of giving food rations to the affected families this time that typhoon hit our place. When we were coming up with this plan to deliver foods to the affected families, my mother, who's the head of the relief operations, informed me that so many families have lost their houses and source of income which is fishing, their houses and fishing boats were destroyed.”

The recent typhoon “Lando” that hit Philippines caused hundreds of families homeless in barangay San Manuel Norte, Agoo, La Union, Philippines. Strong winds and massive sea waves destroyed the houses in the coastline. Children are in hunger running to find shelter in the nearby school that was also wrecked by the typhoon “Lando”. A concerned family who is a resident of the said barangay initiated to come up with a charity drive to bring relief goods to the families severely affected by the typhoon.
