Read My Lips - Taxes
America is a country suffering from a lack of moral values. Spreading the wealth is suppose to be a bad thing, and raising taxes for the rich will take us into a depression. Is this really true?
Well since the rich don't give a damn about anyone who is not of the upper class then it probably is true. After all, the rich are the ones who are in control. If they are forced to pay more taxes they will get it back by cutting wages or raising prices. They will never go without one of those seven vacation homes, one of those collector cars, or that $400,000 work of art hanging in their living room, just so a working class family could afford to heat their house for the winter. Why would they do such a thing? Their "things" are more important to them than another human being is, and to ask them to go without a few of their luxury items is ridiculous to say the least. The wealthy work hard for their money, and anyone who isn't wealthy must be a freeloader or lazy. The rich should be admired and even feared for they are Godlike. This is what America stands for and anyone who says otherwise is Un-American according to McCain's ideas.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, speaking for McCain, said Obama wanted to spread the wealth to what Schwarzenegger called that welfare system known as Social Security. He made it sound like our elderly who worked hard all their lives are no longer productive and are now just beggars, so it is wrong for Obama to want to help them. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a wealthy man and he enjoys his life style, so he supports John McCain. He knows that McCain will protect his wealth and keep him living his dream.
By these standards, it is true that Obama's plans are a bad thing. Obama is a man who dreams that people could actually do the right thing. He is a man who believes people could actually care about one another. He is a man that believes it would be ok to spread a little of the wealth to those that are hurting. Obama is a good man, but a good man does not fit into this world, and to think that it is ok to believe in change is, well, just the poor man's dream.
Because of the debt that America is in, someone is going to have to pay higher taxes even if McCain denies it now. Do you remember the phrase "Read my lips, no higher taxes" well this was a lie to the American People made by a candidate years ago, and whether he knows it or not, this is McCain's lie in this election. Obama at least is telling the truth and he is not going to expect the working class to foot the bill like McCain will.
Obama is the candidate who will try to make all our dreams a little more realistic. It won't be easy considering what he is up against, but at least he cares enough to try.
