Voting problems |
GA removed me from the voting list, so I rented a home in FL
I have lived and voted in Georgia since 2003, but I received a notice from Gwinnett County that I was going to be removed from the voters' registration list. The reason? I had put my house on the market and was hoping to move to Florida in mid to late November. Oddly, my wife and son (who are Independents) were left on the registration list (I am a Democrat). I was living in the GA home, my furniture was there, my drivers license was there, my cars are registered there - but my job was being moved to FL.
I could not convince the election board to allow me to vote in GA.
So I went to FL where I rented a cheap apartment and took up residence there. (I've since signed a contract on a house, so I do expect to move to FL permanently in mid to late November - that was always my eventual expectation - just not before the election). I told my story to the election board here in FL and I was allowed to register and to vote.
I voted on October 20th, after standing in line for 2 hours. Everyone was in a good mood, including me! I've never had trouble voting until this year.
