When workers get off this evening in this working class part of town, the polls are going to be swamped.  I've never waited in line here before, and this morning at 8:30 AM the lines were out the door and there were only 4 voting machines!  At several points there was confusion as the line broke up and people made a mad dash for a table where alphabetical voting lists were.  Then they politely reformed the line as the poll workers informed them that they needed to wait in line for a ticket.  I waited in line to wait in line to wait in line to vote.  Presented my ID to no less than two people, and struggled to get my wagonload of three children to the machine.  The ballot was a mini-novel and it took me about 15 minutes to vote and review my ballot to be sure everything I cast was correctly recorded.  The poll workers gave me a sticker when we left saying that we'd voted and I'd say that they were well prepared, execpt for the general lack of enough machines.  They did have lines of folding chairs for people who were in line, and plenty of staff to direct traffic.  Democracy was in action in Overland, albiet at a snail's pace.
