A Brooksider Votes for President
The Delaware top elections official announced in time for
last Sunday's print editions that we have a record number of
registrations, topping six hundred thousand for the first time. Over 601,000 people are now registered to vote in Delaware.
Chicago by itself probably has more voters. Delaware has 3
electoral votes.I went to my usual polling place at the school across the
street from my house. I was in and out in ten minutes. Many of the
poll workers appeared to be too young to vote. The system went well. In the morning when I left for work I
was put off because the 20 cars in the usually-empty Southern
parking lot gave me the impression that there would be 20 people in
line in front of me. As it turns out there were 4 lines with 2 poll
workers for each line, and 4 voting machines with one poll worker
each, so that accounted for 12 of the cars, plus there were
electioneers for many offices standing outside the entrance to
glad-hand all who wandered by.No line, in and out in 10 minutes in Newark, Delaware.
I
voted!
