91-year old votes from Tallahassee, Florida ER bed

My 91-year old grandfather was admitted to the ER in Tallahassee, Florida this morning for congestive heart failure. He was coherent and optimistic, but in very frail health. He has always been very passionate about politics and has pushed our entire family to participate in voting whether or not we are on the same team as he. He was devastated that he wouldn't be able to vote today. I took the liberty of calling the Elections office of Leon County and explained the situation. They told me that I could easily come to the County courthouse, get an absentee ballot for him, bring it back to the hospital, have him fill it out, sign it and then personally deliver it back to the courthouse by 7 pm. I received excellent, prompt and caring service from the plethora of workers at the Leon County courthouse. A decent amount of paperwork identifying me and my grandfather was required, but that is to be expected in order to prevent voter fraud. When I got back to the hospital, my grandfather didn't believe that I was able to do that until I showed him the stamp on the ballot from the elections office and was absolutely elated to be able to vote from his hospital bed. I've attached a picture here of him voting from the ER. It took me all of 10 seconds to get it back in the hands of the workers at he courthouse at about 4:30 pm.  He is doing alright for now in the ICU...probably watching the election results on CNN. Thank you to Ion Sancho, our fantastic supervisor of elections who has made our county an example of organization for the rest of our state to follow.
