Race, politics and the White House |
Ok we lost
Alright, we Republicans lost the race for the White House. Now it is time for all of US to be Americans, not (fill in the blank)-Americans but simply(?) Americans. One thing I believe we Americans believe in is that through hard work and dedication we can achieve anything, as can be seen by the results of this Historic Election. But, if anyone thinks that he/she can 'take from the rich' and 'give to the poor' then they have lost sight of what Robin Hood was all about. Robin Hood took back what was taken from the working class through taxes and gave it back to them. Just giving something to someone is not the right way to accomplish the goals purported by the Democratic Party, it does not level the playing field. Everyone can get an education, but it costs. My family did not pay for my education, I did. The Government did not give me the level of income I currently enjoy, I did. No one gave me the house in the nice neighborhood to live in, I did. I came from a poor white family with six children, a stay-at-home mother, and a father that earned, on average, less than $15 thousand a year. I entered military service, served through military actions, wars, and conflicts, and decided to get a college education so I would be able to support a family and give them a better life than I had. That is the American Dream... The chance, if one take it, to improve your and your family's life through hard work. I hope this ideal is what is our new President will strive to provide all AmerICANS, the chance.
