Sad Day: Literary World Loses the Great Michael Crichton
The news came to me this afternoon that my favorite author, Michael Crichton, had passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 66.He had been privately battling cancer for some time.
This is a loss that hits me hard.I am deeply saddened by Mr. Crichton’s passing. He helped the world see through a new point of view and promoted creativity. He was a genius who meshed science and fiction, not to be confused with science fiction. He pushed the limits and explored the realm of possibility. Mr. Crichton is a modern-day George Orwell.
I had difficulty reading and writing growing up. The day I decided to give Jurassic Park a read changed my life forever. His tales were so realistic and captured even my youthful imagination. It gave me the drive to read more and learn more. The more I read, the better I became at it, much like playing a sport.
Today the world has lost a modern day classic writer. He will always be an inspiration, a legend, and a hero in my eye.
