This iReport is part of an assignment:
Obama makes history |
President Obama!
I woke up on election day at 5AM, I awoke to numerous text messages from friends reminding me to vote. I then decided to send out my own mass text message to friends reminding them where to vote and how they can find out where their polling place was.
Then at 7AM I went to my local polling place to vote for Barack Obama. When I pulled the curtain closed the importance of the election hit me even more I felt so excited yet extremely nervous at the same time voting.
Afterwards I left for school and constantly kept checking my phone for any updates on the election. Later that night when the votes were being tallied I was terrified. When Barack Obama was declared the President Elect I was relieved and so amazed. I never have been more proud in my life to be an American.
I received a flood of phone calls and text messages of people celebrating the fact that Obama was elected.I was in shock even up until this morning I thought I was living in a dream but it isn't Barack Obama is actually going to be the 44th President of the United States!!!
When I listened to his acceptance speech last night I cried I was filled with pride. My vote counted! Also, the people that I registered their vote counted!!
I plan on becoming a history teacher and I cannot wait to teach my future students about this historic election! We have such a promising future ahead of us!
YES WE CAN!!!!!!!
