Black Hawk Down sprung up six birch trees
Six birch trees for a Black Hawk down in Santa Lucia di Piave
The site of a fierce battle fought 90 years ago turned into a place of peace, mourning and celebration as the six crew members of a Black Hawk helicopter that crashed exactly one year ago during a flight on the river Piave's bank, were remembered by family members, friends and survivors, along with local officials and members of the Aviano Air Base where the crew was stationed before the crash. Six birch trees were planted around a sculpture, to remember the crew member who lost their lives. There were eleven aboard. Four of the survivors were among a crowd of three hundred family members, friends and comrades who gathered at 12.17 pm today at the exact time and on the very day of the crash, one year later. The touching gathering had its best moments when the American and Italian National Anthems were sung and a twenty one gun salute was tributed to the heroes fallen one year ago. The ceremony took place in this year's the 90th anniversary of the end of world War I fought hereWhat do you think of this story?
