    The view outside your window

The Owl (Cat :D ?) Outside My Window

I found it strange that I read today, (Sunday, November 9, 2008) that CNN wanted views outside it's reader's window, since just yesterday, My daughter and I did just that.  We took photos of the view outside our window.

I live in a town home.  My daughter called me to the window upstairs, where she had discovered an owl in broad daylight, sitting on the tree, peering in the window that she had opened just before she saw him.  Frightened and fascinated by his piercing glare, she had called to me to come and see him.

This was the very same owl that she and I had seen a few nights earlier in the front of our town home in a tree in the darkness of the night.

Months earlier, my husband (who is now my ex) saw him in broad daylight, staring at him as he worked out in the yard.  He saw him just shortly after agonizing over the difficult way in which our  18 year old cat had died in the summer of 2007.  The owl greatly resembled that cat.

Our family had always said that our cat looked like an owl.  To my ex- husband, who is Korean and Buddhist, that first visit by the owl,  to him on the patio, was our cat's way of letting him know that he was okay and had been reincarnated into an owl.

After the two subsequent visits of this owl, who never flies away in our presence, even when we are at a close distance, and who stares at us so intently, my ex-husband is convinced that it is our cat.

Yesterday, my ex, my daughter, and I, on a perfect warm autumn day, stood in happiness and awe at this gorgeous and fascinating owl, enjoying his presence, and could only wonder if it was our former animal companion :D
