Obama makes history |
Always do the right thing...
Dear Mr. Obama,
I am sure you feel overwhelmed at the moment. Just take a deep breath and get to work.
As I expect of any leader, I ask that you ALWAYS strive to do the right thing, even when you are not sure what the right thing is. Remember that "truth" is not relative.
Even though you are the newly elected leader of this great nation, remember that you are merely a man. As a praying citizen of this great nation, I will strive to remember that too.
Surround yourself with smart and ethically sound people, expecting your cabinet to always act with integrity.
Lastly, encourage personal responsibility of every citizen. The government cannot and should not bail out people because they make irresponsible decisions. Remind those that look to government for bailouts and personal financial security that the federal government is not to be responsible for their financial 'happiness'. Our founding fathers reminded us over 200 years ago when this great nation was formed, that we should stand on a foundational idea that each citizen would be given an opportunity to pursue happiness, not provided 'happiness'. The word pursuit means we would be given an opportunity to work toward 'happiness'. Please remember that.
Even though I didn't vote for you, I will support you as my president.
Godspeed,
A United States citizen
